The Wallow

After a Gorilla hand has been lost and after it has been determined whether the hand was actually possible to make, the partnership undergoes a bit of self criticism about the hand. This period of examination is called ``the wallow''.

The wallow is seldom the most enjoyable part of a hand of Gorilla. It is, however, an incredibly important step toward becoming a better Gorilla player. During the wallow, the players may review the hand in any manner they see fit and offer each other advice on how to play similar hands in the future.

One technique that is employed frequently is to simply swap hands. The giver and taker reverse roles. Another method is to lay the cards out in the order that they were played and discuss each play and signal.

It is important to be sensitive of your partner's feelings during the wallow.
